  1. Question (Wesley): If Jesus is both a perfect human and a perfect God, did only his human side die on the cross or did both sides die?

Answer: That's wonderful question Wesley! Only the perfect human side of Jesus died on the cross and not his divine side.

  3. Question (Jeremy): Why did God give people free will if he knew they would sin and make him sad?

Answer: What a great question Jeremy! This is one of the most difficult and most important question to answer in theology. Why did God give human being free will and the ability to sin and rebel against God? Here's one way to think about this issue. God gave human beings free will, so that we can have a loving relationship with him. Without free will, love is meaningless. Love would be forced and that's wouldn't be love. Love between God and human beings, and love between other human beings are possible only because we can genuinely choose to love or not to love.

  4. Question (Emerson): Why did Jesus call God "his Father" if they were the same being at the beginning of time?

Answer: That's a great question Emerson. The doctrine of the Trinity is one of the most important and hardest teachings in the Bible. God is triune, which means that there is only ONE GOD but he exists in 3 persons, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of them is God, but there are NOT 3 gods, but ONE GOD!

However, for the purpose of saving humanity from their sins, the Son of God (that is Jesus) took upon a subordinated role. He came to this earth as a human being, he took upon human flesh and he humbled himself and called "God the Father", his heavenly father. In his human nature, Jesus called God, His Father in heaven! This is also the way Christians should address God!

  5. Question (Emerson): Why did God make our bodies the way they are? Do our eyes, nose, and ears look like him if we are made in his image?

Answer: Another great question Emerson! When the Bible says that human beings are made in God's image, it does not mean in the physical or material image. God does not have a physical body or parts but he can take upon human form as it was in the case of Jesus. When the Bible says that human beings are made in God's image it means that we share certain traits and resemblances to God which allows us to have a relationship with Him. Like what, you ask? We possess a spiritual nature, an eternal soul, we have the ability to think, reason, and create that reflects God's wisdom and creativity, and we have an ability to rule and care for God's creation as God's representatives.
