1/19/2025 - Jesus Told Nicodemus About Eternal Life

Summary: In the story of Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee and a religious leader, he goes to see Jesus at night because he wants to learn more about Him. Jesus tells Nicodemus that to be part of God's kingdom, people need to be “born again.” This means having a special new start in their hearts through God's Spirit. Jesus explains that just as the wind is mysterious, so is being born of the Spirit. Jesus reveals that God loves the world so much that He sent His Son to offer eternal life to all who believe, emphasizing that His purpose is to save, not to condemn.

  2. (Ava) When we die and go to heaven, do we keep our age? Do babies remain as babies, and do grandparents stay as older individuals?
  3. (Alexis) Will we age in heaven or hell?
  4. (Emerson) Did people get baptized twice, like we do, during Nicodemus's time?

  1. Question (Jordan): Are more people on the dark side or the light side?

Answer: That's a great question Jordan. According to the Bible, more people are on the dark side, and are in living in sin and in opposition to God. Jesus once describe the path to heaven as a narrow road and only a few find it. He also described the path to hell as a wide road and many people are on it. This is the consistent teaching of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, the people of true faith in God is often a minority, not a majority of people.

  2. Question (Ava): When we die and go to heaven, do we keep our age? Do babies remain as babies, and do grandparents stay as older individuals?

Answer: What a smart and perceptive question Ava! However, the Bible does not tell us what age we will be in heaven. But one thing is for certain, namely, our heavenly bodies will be different from our earthly bodies. (see 1Corinthians 15:42-44) And there will be no aging or death in heaven (See Revelation 21:4).

From these biblical statement we can infer that people in heaven will most likely be in a state of full maturity or their "ideal" self, since time and age won't matter in heaven.

  3. Question: (Alexis): Will we age in heaven or hell?

Answer: Good question Alexis! The Bible doesn't address the question of our age or aging in heaven or in hell. But it does address the duration of heaven and hell and it's forever. Time and dates won't matter in heaven or hell, since we will be living forever, either with God in heaven or without God in hell.

  4. Question (Emerson): Did people get baptized twice, like we do, during Nicodemus's time?

Answer: Good question Emerson, but I believe there is some still some confusion about baptism and confirmation. Baptism and confirmation are two different things. There is only one baptism, that unites us with Christ into his body. Today, in our church, there is only one baptism, which you receive as a child or as an adult. There is NOT two baptism, ONLY one! If you received baptism as a child, you don't need to receive it again. You only need to receive confirmation. But if you've never baptism as a child, you can be baptized later as an adult.
as an adult because you grew up in a non-Christian family.

People were not baptized twice during Nicodemus' time. They were baptized only once by the John the Baptist and it was a baptism of repentance. They received baptism to prepare themselves for the coming of Christ.
